Strong sportsmanship leads RSU to 1st place for largest team at the Rimi Riga Marathon

Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) took first place for being the largest team in the Rimi Riga Marathon, held on 17 and 18 May. Since last year, the university has climbed from third place to the top of the leaderboard. We are proud of our sporting spirit!
On 18 May, the RSU team of students and staff participated in the marathon, representing the University in all races. A total of 464 participants registered for the team, of whom 437 ran their respective races. 42 participants ran the 42 km race, 220 ran the 21 km race, 118 ran the 10 km race, and 47 ran the 6 km race. An additional 10 participants took part in the Latvian Championship in the road mile race, also known as the DPD Mile.
The RSU team’s participation in the marathon was coordinated by the RSU Sports Club.
About the marathon
This year marked the 35th anniversary of the Rimi Riga Marathon. A total of 40,122 runners from over 100 countries registered for the various races – the highest number of participants in the event’s history. This figure surpasses the previous record from 2019, when 38,398 runners registered. Read more Read more about the marathon
